Fees and payments
The Teachers Registration Act 2000 provides for a range of prescribed fees to be paid to the Board for application processes, annual registration and other processes or services. Fees are contained in Schedule 1 of the Teachers Registration Regulations 2011. Fees are expressed in “fee units”. Fee units for all Tasmanian Government fees are reviewed and set by Treasury on an annual basis, consistent with the Fee Units Act 1997. All fees are exempt from GST. Application and assessment of qualifications fees are non-refundable.
More information on fees and payments is available in the Fees and Payments Policy.

The TRB has a range of external payment options and does not issue formal receipts. Depending on the payment method a teacher uses, they should receive a receipt number to use for taxation purposes:
- Credit card online – www.payway.com.au – emails a receipt.
- Credit card by phone – www.payway.com.au – issue a receipt number for their records.
- BPAY through a financial institution offers the option to print a receipt once the transaction is completed.
- Service Tasmania provides a hard copy receipt for over-the-counter payments.
Payment information can be located in an individual’s TRB Online account (see the second blue tab My Details> Payment History) which contains the details of the payments they have made over the last five years, including amount, reason, payment method and receipt number.
