RegistrationThose persons seeking a career as teachers in Tasmania must secure registration, provisional registration or a limited authority to teach before commencing employment. The Teachers Registration Act 2000 provides that only persons who are registered, provisionally registered or who have a limited authority to teach may be employed or engaged to teach in Tasmanian government and non-government schools. The Board will assess an applicant's teacher education studies in conjunction with the length, location and timing of her/his teaching experiences to determine the category of registration to be granted, subject to a satisfactory character check.
Application for RegistrationYou can simply download the form and print a copy using the link below or you can save a copy to your computer. However, be aware that documents change, so always check that you have the up-to-date version by revisiting the link. If you are having trouble downloading the forms from the website, contact trb.admin@trb.tas.gov.au to be emailed a copy.
Re-application for RegistrationThis form enables some teachers previously registered with the Teachers Registration Board of Tasmania to re-apply for teacher registration. However, if your registration lapsed more than two years ago then you must complete an Application for Registration (above) in Tasmania. If you have any questions, please call on 03 6233 5992.
